Carla Harris TCM
Acupuncturist (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Bio of Acupuncturist Carla Harris
I graduated from Grant MacEwan’s 30 month Diploma of Acupuncture program in 2006. Prior to that, I studied full- time Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for two years in Victoria, B.C. at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM).
In my 16 years of studying and practicing TCM I have treated a variety of imbalances such as arthritis, sciatica, fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines, PTSD, anxiety, depression, addictions, low back pain and weakness, acute and chronic pain, acute tonsillitis, West Nile Virus symptoms, chronic constipation, post stroke symptoms, and more.
In TCM we are taught to view the body and life holistically. I look at a person’s emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of being, as well as always considering external factors. The goal is to bring the person back to a state of balance which is accomplished by treating the root of the symptoms and signs. In order to discover the root I will ask you a lot of questions and examine your tongue and pulse. Amongst all the gathered information, a treatment plan is formulated which includes acupuncture points (with or without electro- acupuncture), and possibly cupping, Gua Sha, (scraping), Moxibustion, Tui Na (massage), minor blood-letting and life style/dietary advice.
I absolutely love being a licensed TCM trained acupuncturist; helping people to achieve their health goals. I feel honoured each time a person allows me to assist their healing journey with Traditional Chinese Medicine. I would be honoured to treat you.
