May-June Yoga

Join us down in The Yoga Den for a collection of small personalised classes.

This class session is 9 weeks for $135 with the exception of Sunday Yin which is 8 weeks for $120.  Classes Run Tuesday May 2 -  Thursday  June 29. Due to unforeseen circumstances the NEW chair-assisted classes will be postponed to be a 4 week session for June only at $60. 

Our classes run with only 3-9 participants per class it is a great non-intimidating and friendly place to settle into a practice.   Drop in are available for $18 and new students are always welcome anytime and get to try one class free.  Drop-ins and Late registrations are available as long as space allows. Online booking of your spot is recommended as there may not be room!  or alternatively, Classes need a minimum of 3 to run and will be taken off online booking if not on. so online RSVP is recommended to ensure class is on.

 If you are joining prenatal and are due before June 30  partial enrollments are also accepted.  Once registered, if you know you can't make a class with 24 hours notice or more you will able to do an alternate make up this same session.

We have a multi-class/family rate! Come with your partner or child (8+ can attend with an Adult, 13+ solo)  at a reduced rate.  Or come more than once a week!  Instead of $15/class when registered it is only $13/class for 2x or 2 family members.. 18 classes for $234 or 3x a week for $297. Or book a few in this or that class, anything 5 classes or more qualifies for the registration rate over the drop in rate.

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy that does apply. When booked in, The space is reserved for YOU  but classes are transferrable!  A week notice is preferred for cancellation of class session as it could result in a class not running.

Yoga for Backs

Yoga for backs class is based off of the principles of Critical Alignment Therapy ie C.A.T  (Gert van Leeuwen). This practice uses specialized props and techniques to release tension from your back, neck, and shoulders. Once tension is released we can begin to create new patterns of movement and strengthen the deep core and back muscles. This class is suitable for all experience levels and is especially beneficial for people with chronic pain/ tension/ injury, people who work at a desk or doing physical labour, people with injuries, or anyone else looking to release back tension and improve their posture. Our Yoga Den classes use felt pads, black foam straps and bolsters as the props.

Prenatal Yoga

Pregnancy comes with its problems-backaches, morning sickness and shortness of breath, to name a few. If you're looking for a way to ease these symptoms, you need look no further than yoga. Regular yoga practice will help not only your body, but your mind as well -- and it offers a chance to meet other mothers-to-be. Yoga is a perfect fit for pregnancy, It helps prepare the body for birth and helps you recover afterward.

With regular yoga practice, you will strengthen and stretch your muscles, preparing your body for birth.  Creating alignment through the body to aid in proper fetal positioning for a smooth quick labour. You will also improve postural alignment, helping to prevent backache due to the added weight of the baby and larger breasts. Other physical benefits include better circulation and breathing. Through practising yoga and meditation, you will improve your focus and learn to relax during labour as well as to cope with any stress that arises, whether during pregnancy or after the baby is born.

 

Mom & Baby Yoga CANCELLED

CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED. We need a minimum of 3 registered ongoing for classes to run. If you would like this class please let us know and maybe we can getting up and running again. 

These classes are geared to helping mom release the tension, recover the stretch out abs, lost posture and tight neck and shoulders due to carrying and nursing. While working to relax and de-stress the body, mind and spirit and connect with other moms. This class is geared to accommodate  newborn babies  up to crawling. Yoga poses will incorporate holding, rocking and playing with your baby as well as practice with him/her next to you.  As well as moving baby through some yoga too! Typical return to activity quidelines is 6 weeks postpartum and as everyone has a different birth experience your readiness to return to activity is the bigger indication than the age of your baby to when you can begin the class. A green light from your medical care provider is a must. Note: Crawling/Walking babies are welcome to come and are free to explore the room but as they tend to be drawn to the other babies you may spend more time refereeing than practicing.

Gentle Vinyasa (Prenatal suitable)

A gentle flow class connecting breath to movement, mind to body and working to gently strengthen and stretch the whole body.  Our small class size makes it the perfect class to get great one-on-one attention if you have limitations and need modifications.

Chair-Assisted Gentle Yoga

WILL RUN FOR A 4 WEEK JUNE SESSION ONLY! 4 weeks for $60. 

Gentle flow yoga that uses the assistance of chairs for balance and so that you are not getting up and down off the floor.  A great class if you have issues being down on hands and knees, seated on the floor or issues with balance.  Build strength, flexibility and mobility while connecting to the breath and body awareness. 

The Yoga Den is located down 6 stairs from the back entry and is not wheel chair accessible.

Hatha Yoga

FREE OPEN HOUSE for both Hatha classes May 18th! Bring your friends and come try out this class free (and if you haven't been here before, you'll still have your regular one free trial class to use with another class!)

Hatha Yoga is the traditional approach to yoga. Ha =Sun Tha= moon and focuses on the balancing of the solar & lunar energies. The energetic movement through the breath and through the body. A non-flow based  classical yoga practice of the asanas (poses). Including Pranayama (breath work) and  meditation. 7:15p Class is beginners and 8:30p is multi-level.

Vinyasa Yoga

Power vinyasa yoga presents you with a healthy, challenging workout that will make you strong and stress-free. The main goal of power vinyasa is to build and maintain physical and spiritual vitality, not to wrap your legs behind your head (though this can occur).

Using a one breath -one movement flow and a clear curriculum we will create a solid physical base and an intellectual understanding of yoga poses, breath  and physical alignment. In increments, you'll build strength, focus, stamina and flexibility.

All you need is to focus on letting go, sweating, breathing, moving, and respecting your limitations. Power vinyasa is a strategic, but soulful approach that makes a challenging yoga flow accessible to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or background.

All classes have a  small class size  and are customized to the needs and desires of the students. A multi-level class that allows all levels and abilities to find a place within the practice that works for them!

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however,  Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.

Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

While initially, this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to twenty minutes! Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised. You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.

Please note: Yin Yoga is not restorative yoga. Like all yoga practices, if the tissues you are targeting for exercise are damaged in some way, please give yourself a chance to heal before resuming your regular practice.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga nidra is an ancient but little-known yogic practice that’s becoming increasingly popular as both a form of meditation and a mind-body therapy. It is a systematic form of guided relaxation that begins with deep body relaxation followed by visualization cues that can help to release emotional-energetic holdings in the body.

It often brings immediate physical benefits, such as reduced stress and better sleep, and that it has the potential to heal psychological wounds. As a meditation practice, it can engender a profound sense of joy and well-being.
